Monthly Restorative Yoga & Sound Bath with Lisa Frerichs

  • Nu Movement 716 University Avenue (entrance on Atlantic Ave) Rochester New York United States (map)

Last Saturday of each month / 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Restorative Yoga is a practice that relies on props (blankets, Blocks and Bolsters) to support your body in various yoga posture, mostly lying down. With the use of these props, each pose is designed to put major muscles groups in flexion (opposite of stretching) which permits the muscles to relax and encourages your nervous system to rest. While stretching of part of the body do occur as a result of the poses it is not the focus of the practice. So do not think “I am not flexible enough,” everyone can do restorative yoga and should!

Lisa has been teaching Restorative Yoga for 20 years and is a long-time student of Judith Hanson-Laseter. Lisa has widened her approach to Restorative Yoga, blending all the benefits of Restorative Yoga with the healing effects generated by the vibrations of a sound bath. Lisa’s approach to conducting a sound bath is also quite unique. She utilizes several handheld instruments that she “sweeps” each student’s body with, progressively moving through the layers of the body to help release “what is no longer needed.”

Sound is nourishing to your nervous system and restorative yoga is healing to the nervous system, making this practice the perfect combination in a world where our nervous system is always overstimulated.

The class sizes are limited to allow time for every student to get their own personal sound bath including the use of tuning forks. You are guaranteed to love this experience.

This class is for all levels of yogis including first time yogis.

Pricing: $60 per person (Limit 12 students)

Yes, there are more than 7! The 8th chakra is referred to as the Star Chakra, floating a few inches above the crown of your head. Called Viyapini in Sanskrit, translating to “that which is present everywhere.” Energetically, Viyapini is about connecting to your higher self, discovering your personal power, and heightening your compassion. As it sits above your crown chakra, the Star Chakra is unique in that it is the first of the chakras that is not solely attached to the physical body. In this sense it is a more spiritual chakra, it is our gateway to divine love, spiritual wisdom, and authentic energy healing.
